X-Wing Miniatures System Open

Joe: Hey it’s this again. Last year’s system open was an interesting experiment and I’m happy to see it continue.
Interesting that they’ve shifted the bulk of events to the US. And still none in Asia or Oceania. I think it might have to do with the location of Celebration this year. Last year Celebration was in Europe, so most of the events were in Europe. This year it’s in Florida. That’s my guess.
Evan: Yeah, I think I was very confused as to why they only had the one US event last year, but that seems like as plausible a theory as any.
If this can become a reliable and popular series outside of their regular championship series, I’ll be very interested to see if more things like this come out for other games.

Destiny Blue Cards:

Evan: More blue! One of the biggest strengths of the blue and red cards in Destiny is that they have such a strong theme. It’s been mentioned before, but yellow really doesn’t seem to know what it wants to be.
Joe: With the blue cards, I’m really mostly interested in the characters moresoe than what they do. And by that I mean Qui Gon. I just want Qui Gon and I’ll be good when it comes to force users. Until they reveal Ahsoka.
Evan: There are quite a few folks who seem odd to have left out, except, of course, that they’re sure to show up in upcoming sets.
So, the big question: Will we (eventually) be able to play Blue Hero Anakin against Blue Villain Vader???

Yellow Card Preview:

Joe: Now this is more my style. Some of these cards look properly mischievous.
Evan: Speaking of which (see above)… I still don’t get the yellow theme. Are they just indepents? Having said that, I certainly dig the types of characters we’re going to get in yellow.
Joe: Plus, Cad Bane is in the art for On the Hunt, which in addition to looking like a really fun card, has Cad Bane in the art. Cade Bane. I’m easy to please.
Evan: Is this the only piece of Cad Bane art from FFG so far? Or is the LCG one just very similar to this one?

Star Wars Clue:

Joe: This looks kinda neat. Probably not great, but neat.
Evan: It’s certainly… unique.
Joe: I think I’ll have to get it and do a review of it.
Evan: If you’re lucky it’ll be as surprising as SW Risk. At worst, we get a hilarious review out of it.

Meditation and Mastery is out

Evan: FINALLY! Feels like we have to wait forever for these packs! I know it’s really only about four weeks, but with so few previews it feels longer.
Joe: I picked this pack up when we were at Worlds. I’m not interested in the pilots much, which is most of this deck, and the Night keyword is boring. Probably until there are more Night cards. Really the only thing of interest to me here is the Jedi pod.
Evan: I have to admit, this pack didn’t blow me away. It is very weird that some packs are just ridiculously interesting (Opposition number 1 had Ahsoka, Vader, Han, Chewie, and Dengar, right?) and then there are ones like this pack.
I’m bound and determined to make Rebel pilots work and this Wedge will definitely be included.
Also, Nien Nunb looks stoned.

Captain Terro Preview

Joe: This is exciting. Not only does the Terro expansion come with Captain Terro, you can, if you want, run him as a generic Dewback Rider. And better yet, that Dewback Rider is only 5 points!
Evan: I haven’t gotten close to using bigger figures yet, but 5 points for a generic does seem pretty sweet.
Joe: I’m excited to see what builds people come up with for these guys. All of the skirmish cards in this pack seem really promising.
Evan: I think it’s fair to say that IA Skirmish design has really found its stride. I’m encouraged by this pack that we’ll see more unexpected additions. I would never have put “Dewback-riding Stormtrooper” as one of my predictions for inclusion.

ISB Headquarters playmat announced

Joe: This was on sale at Worlds. I already have one.
Joe: See it in action here: https://t.co/bFCSAlVVw7
Evan: After only a couple times of putting the map puzzle pieces together, I’m already very interested in the playmats. If I can manage to play more, I’ll definitely invest.

Armada Correlian Conflict Objectives Preview

Evan: They just can’t let up on the news this week! A shame neither of us is invested in Armada. Such a great game; just such a significant money sink… #sad

Battlefront Ultimate Edition Trailer

Evan: Welp. I think most of the people who spent a ton on the game at launch, along with season pass, are not too happy right now.
Joe: Neat. It’d be cool if this would splash more players into the game.
Evan: I’ll be very interested to see how much traction this release gets. I feel like everyone that would’ve bought it already has.

Not many people playing Battlefront these days…

Battlefront One Year anniversary and Rogue One info

Joe: I’ll be hopping on Battlefront this weekend to take advantage of the 4x XP, but I probably won’t be playing much besides that until Rogue One DLC is out.

Star Wars Mobile MOBA

Joe: Hmm. Well all the other mobile games have been boring so I can’t expect anything more from this one, but I’m sure I’ll at least give it a try.
Evan: I saw this on twitter and my head about hit the desk. A SW MOBA is not unexpected. I’m surprised it hasn’t happened sooner. The problem (there are actually way more than one but for brevity’s sake) is the mobile part. There are VERY few mobile MOBAs that are worth playing. I don’t foresee this one being worth the time or the money. I’d rather be playing Galaxy of Heroes than this and I do NOT want to play that game either.

Oh look, it’s that funny old double wheeled tank (MTV-7) which was originally just an old toy.

Evan: I think I was actually running this hunk of junk in my Empire deck before

Lol the art looks like it was taken directly from the toy box

SWTOR Eternal Throne: Uprisings Detailed

Evan: This offers quicker, more action-oriented group play than the traditional Operations, Flashpoints, or Warzones. They had some streamers show off the Normal and Veteran modes on one of the recent live streams.
We’ll see if these catch on or if they’ll quickly be forgotten by players and developers.

SWTOR Eternal Throne “Rule The Galaxy” Trailer

Evan: Obviously, we’re getting close to the release of Eternal Throne so they’re ramping up their trailers and details. Fortunately, they’ve been doing weekly live streams, so there’s really been no lack of information leading up to it.

SWTOR Eternal Throne: Story Details
Watch live video from on www.twitch.tv
Evan: We finally got to hear about my favorite part of The Old Republic’s newest expansion: the story! It’s a direct sequel to last year’s Fallen Empire, which ended on a cliffhanger I never saw coming, so it’ll be nice to see where that goes.
Furthermore, THE Old Republic writer himself, Drew Karpyshyn, has added to the lore with a short story on www.swtor.com which explains the final seen from the Betrayed trailer released earlier this summer (found here: https://youtu.be/LbpDxrew4A0).
