News Roundup 2/12/2016

Greetings Star Wars gamers. This was a big week for news so let’s get right into it.

Tabletop

For the Star Wars Card Game, the sixth force pack in the Endor cycle was announced: Redemption and Return.

The German website JediBibliothek is reporting that in new German copies of the SW RPG sourcebooks, the word Bothan has been removed, particularly in reference to a character’s species, who was identified as a Bothan in the English release of the books.

This guy on the cover, Arkhan Brem’tu, is identified as an unknown species, rather than a Bothan.

Word is that this change came from the top, so the theory is that perhaps we’ll be seeing a Bothan in Rogue One, and they won’t look anything like the furry Bothans of Legends. Which honestly would be a really odd move.

And now the moment all X-Wing players have been waiting for for what feels like ages, the Punishing One Preview has finally been posted!

There are so many exciting things spoiled in this preview, including a Boba Fett crew card, a Gonk crew card, and a crazy Zoolander-can’t-turn-right maneuver dial.

The Battle of Jakku DLC will become a mandatory download for anyone playing Battlefront. Which is good. Because at the moment it’s an optional download, and there is a matchmaking filter to include or exclude the map, which is essentially splitting the community a bit since there’s no reason anyone shouldn’t have the free content.

We also have some new info on the February update for Battlefront:

THANK THE FORCE THEY’RE FIXING THE A-WING.

DICE also put out some neat articles about the sound design in Battlefront. Part 1 & Part 2.

Remember Republic Commando? Of course you do. It was amazing. Jordan Maison of Cinelinx spoke to one of the game’s developers and learned about what the plans for a sequel would have been, had one been made.

The two options were apparently participating in Order 66, or playing as Sev, who ends up starting the Rebellion. Both ideas sound fun and interesting. Here’s hoping EA might give us an Imperial Commando sometime.

Game Informer spoke with some of the folks working on the new Lego The Force Awakens game on how they’re going to be handling the scene where HAN SOLO DIES.

Lastly, the developers of The Old Republic have been running some livestreams. View the past broadcast to catch up on all the SWTOR goodness.

Do you like us, or at least what we do here at The Jodo Cast? Maybe a little bit?

If so, it would be super cool if you headed over to the Star Wars Podcast Awards website and filled out their two nomination surveys, nominating us as you fancy.

And finally here’s a fun video of something that should totally be a real game.
